Slovakia defeats Iceland 2-1 in Euro Qualifiers
Polievka's late goal secures victory
Slovakia came from behind to defeat Iceland 2-1 in their Euro 2024 qualifier on Saturday, with substitute Martin Polievka scoring the winning goal in the 89th minute.
Iceland had taken the lead through a Juraj Kucka own goal in the first half, but Slovakia equalized through Ondrej Duda in the second half. Polievka's goal came just minutes from the end of the match, giving Slovakia a vital victory in their qualifying campaign.
The win moves Slovakia into second place in Group F, one point behind leaders Norway. Iceland remains in third place with 11 points.
